Cancer by Lauren Bonsell:
My project will take you on an interactive journey through the metaphorical scenarios and emotions that surround cancer. I have created cancer in an easier to understand context which is be characterized as a seemingly cute yellow and blue bug. The story explores the multiple paths that the disease can take you on. You may find your end quickly, or get caught in an endless loop, much like the differencing reality of cancer situations.
Everyone knows about cancer and is likely to have been touched by it in some way. I wanted to create a piece that enlightens people that it doesn't always end the same way. There is more than just beating or loosing to it. Cancer has many ways of existing, growing, dying, and changing. It can grow in numbers or in physical size.
I choose to let the audience decide their own path by choosing clickable areas in the story. Each object or area is significant to the next outcome.

Stop motion animation
The site version of the stop motion animation with the clay bug:
This is a rough version, some images are slightly out of place and needs to be finalized with sound!

Page 5 Animation
I made a flash animation for page 5:

http://www.imagearts.ryerson.ca/lbonsell/mpm33/imgs/pg5_bugindesert.swf
Notes:
- slow down flower image so it is easily clickable - it can be clicked and takes you to pg10 but it is very difficult to actually click it
- Add background with clickable sun
- make animation size so it fits the entire browser like original .swf file
- anatomy/colour tweaks

Updates
Today I finally got some time to work on it. I know it's last minute, but that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about it!
I sliced the story board images and will be creating drafts for all of the web pages using those images for now and completely each page piece by piece. This will help map out the entire site on actual pages and get the coding out of the way.
Examples of the sliced images are below:

Attempts
Attempted using this site's coding for page transitions:
- Prototype of page transitions: http://imagearts.ryerson.ca/lbonsell/mpm33/begin.html
- delayed link transitions - to give time for an animation to occur
- intro page - image of scene - click on hole - animation of getting closer to the hole/entering plays then it links to the new page
- pg 2 - stop motion animation of clay creation of bug character - (create the character in reality)

Brainstorming
Website
• Interactive, maze, story, adventure?
• Improve java skills - http://www.javafile.com/
• a virtual pet
• Flash?
• Animations that change based mood –processing examples
• Robot in the garden? Communal plant
• As people visit the webpage and feed/water the plan it grows, it can be trimmed as well by the users – page expands as the size of the plant does based on their input
• Online radio
• Page transitions
Lights
• Batman signal – spotlight
• Concert light show
Video
• A fursona video – tell a story about a cat
Graphic
• Fairy series?
• Fantasy series?
Interactive story:
• Underlining idea could be about cancer – but dress it up so it doesn’t DIRECTLY relate to it
o It touches everyone
o It comes in many shapes and sizes
o Actions and attitudes against it
o Distant (you never see it), no one really knows what it is
o Robots (rust) quest to find CLR
• A quest to navigate through webpages to find a new piece of information – there is no win or lose, it is solely exploratory – learning what happens when you take a certain path, how things can be the same or different
• Idea of the project is to learn about using flash as a web device as well as learning some new tricks with java scripting – page transitions – possibly also learning how to create my own music digitally
• “if cats could talk” – adventure of a kitty
